Viola Louise Slagle
Viola Louise Slagle, age 94, of Bruin, PA, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012, at Sunnyview Nursing Home in Butler, PA surrounded by her family.She was born April 10, 1917, in Rimersburg, PA, the daughter of Charles and Vernie (Sallade) Guntrum.
Viola lived all her adult life in the Bruin area. She married William F. Slagle on October 9, 1935 and they shared 43 years of marriage together prior to his death in 1978. She was a protestant by faith, and a member of the VFW Post 7073 in Parker. Viola was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. A homemaker at heart, she also enjoyed going to bingo, working crossword puzzles, and playing cards with her card club friends. She never lost focus for what was most important to her, her children and grandchildren. Viola's kind heart and generous spirit will live on in her family and she will be sadly missed by all.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, William G. Slagle and Gary Dean Slagle and his wife, Peg, all of Butler; her daughter, Doris L. Rosenberg and her husband John of Petrolia; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and one great great-grandchild; and her sister, Alberta Seybert of Butler.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William F. Slagle, who died September 22, 1978; three brothers, Kenneth, Raymond, and Clarence Guntrum; and four sisters, Lois Klingman and three infant sisters.
Relatives and friends may visit from 11-1 PM on Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at the Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 102 Argyle Street, Petrolia, PA
Funeral services will immediately follow vistation at the funeral home with the Rev. Joseph Boomhower officiating.
Burial will be in Allegheny Cemetery, Parker, Pennsylvania.
In honor of Viola, contributions may be made in her memory to a charity of the donor's choice.
