Robert T. ''Butch'' Beatty
Robert Turney "Butch" Beatty, age 94, of Kittanning, died Sunday, May 27, 2012 at Sugar Creek Rest Home.

He was born on September 3, 1917 in Crystal City, Jefferson Co., MO to Edgar N. and Margaret E. (Walthour) Beatty.
Mr. Beatty retired in 1979 from P.P.G of Ford City as an examiner after forty-three years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Kittanning and had served on the administrative board and was a trustee of his Church. Butch was also a member of the V.F.W. Post #4843 in Ford City and a Life member of B.P.O.E. Elks Post #203 of Kittanning. He was a past president and fire chief of Hose Co. #1 and was also secretary of Kittanning Fireman's Relief Association for twenty six years. He also belonged to the Armstrong County and Western PA Fireman's Associations. Butch was a volunteer for the Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Butch was the longest living member of the fire service in Armstrong County having become a member of Kittanning Hose Co. #1 on January 7, 1941. Later that same year just prior to the bombing of Pearl Harbor he was part of a crew of six which helped unload from a railroad flatcar and put into service one of Western PA's first aerial ladder trucks.
He was a 1935 graduate of Kittanning High School and he served in the US Army during WWII. Butch enjoyed going hunting and fishing for many years.
He will be deeply missed by his son, Robert T. Beatty, Jr. of Cadogan; his daughter, Joyce L. Shuster and husband Gerald of Kittanning; six grandchildren, Betsy Shuster Folga and husband Dan, Patrick Shuster, Carl Beatty and wife Kim, Kristen Cousins and husband Frank, Cory Crytzer and husband Bill, and David Beatty and wife Tiffany; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 68 wonderful years, Betty Jane (Gould) Beatty who died in 2008; two brothers Edgar and John Beatty; and two sisters, Sarah Dorfeld and Margaret Albaugh.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the Bauer Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean Street, Kittanning where a fireman's memorial service will be held at 7:30 PM.
Additional visitation will be held from 9 AM until the time of funeral services at 10 AM on Thursday at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Allyn Ricketts officiating.
Interment will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, East Franklin Township, Armstrong Co., PA.
