Georgia Louise ''Lou'' Horner

Georgia Louise "Lou" Horner, age 78, of Parker, PA passed away Friday, June 1, 2012, at the VNA Inpatient Hospice, Butler.

She was born in Findlay Twp., Allegheny County, on August 16, 1933, the daughter of James P. McConnell and Mildred M. (Hughes) McConnell.

Lou attended the St. Petersburg High School. She married Dale Horner April 1, 1950. She was a member of the Martinsburg Church of Bruin. Lou was a house wife and wonderful mother. She was a member of the Jacob Ferree Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Coraopolis and the Bruin Fire Department's former Ladies Auxiliary. Her church life took her on two special mission trips. She spent six months at a Christian radio station in Nenana, Alaska and another two week mission in Russia. Lou enjoyed square and line dancing with her family and finding a game of bingo. She also found pleasure in reading and working in her garden. Lou will best be remembered for the hugs she shared with everyone.

She will be deeply missed by her four children, her sons Herbert Hughes Horner and his wife Barb of Bruin and John Robert Horner and his wife Debbie of Parker; daughters Ruthie Pickett and husband, Douglas of Evans City and Susan Marie Horner of Parker; five grandchildren Christopher Horner, Cassandra Pickett, Charity Horner, Sandra Jackson and husband David, and Brandy Hoffman; a step granddaughter, Jamie Blystone; six great-grandchildren, Lauren and Alyson Horner, Erin and Hayden Jackson, Paxton and Amira Hoffman; a step great-grandson, Blake Blystone; three brothers, James W. McConnell and his wife Bette of Coraopolis, Lawrence W. "Butch" McConnell and his wife Marlene of Bruin, and Edwin P. McConnell and his wife Patty of Karns City; along with numerous step grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Lou was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Dale Herbert Horner who died December 11, 2002; and her brother Thomas H. McConnell

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at 3:00PM at the Martinsburg Church of Bruin, 128 Main Street, Bruin, PA, with her pastor, the Reverend Matt Van Gorden, officiating.

Burial will be in the Concord Cemetery. Hooker, PA.

In honor of Lou, contributions may be made in her memory to the Martinsburg Church of Bruin or the Bruin Fire Department.
