Robby L. Young

Robby L. Young, age 58, of Creekside, PA, died on Thursday, June 7, 2012, at the Allegheny General Hospital.

He was born on October 31, 1953, in Kittanning, PA, the son of Donald H. and Donna J. (Stitt) Young.

Robby graduated from Elderton High School in 1971 and then honorably served in the US Army as a staff sergeant for six-and-a-half years. Robby was stationed in Germany during his time in the Army and it was there where he met his wife, Jeanette, who he married August 30, 1975. After returning home, he worked as an iron worker. Robby truly loved the outdoors and earned his associate's degree in Parks and Recreation Management from Butler County Community College. He became a park ranger first for Crooked Creek State Park and then worked as a park ranger for the Corps of Engineers at Burnsville Park in West Virginia, retiring five years ago.

Robby's personality was that of an old rebel cowboy. Fishing and hunting were two of his favorite hobbies and he loved animals, especially horses, birds and his "best friend", his dog, Blackie. Robby knew something about every plant and enjoyed working in his garden; he was also a member of Mt. Union Lutheran Church. Those who knew him will remember how he marched to the beat of his own drum, and also how he was a wonderful father and grandfather who loved his family.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his mother, Donna J. Young, of Shelocta; wife of 36 years, Jeanette (Harribey) Young; sons, Jaime J. Young and wife, Kristina, of Shelocta, and Jeremy D. Young, of Creekside; grandsons, Kyler, Mitchell and Nathaniel Young; twin brother, Bobby D. Young, Sr. and wife, Cindy, of Shelocta; and sisters, Connie J. Young and companion, Bill McCoullough, of Vandergrift, and Cathy L. Gearhart and husband, Rodney, of Butler.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald H. Young, who died April 2, 2012.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be held from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, June 11, 2012 at Mt. Union Lutheran Church, 1051 Girty Rd., Shelocta, PA with the Rev. Joyce Dix-Weiers officiating.

Full military honors will be presented by the American Legion Honor Guard at the church immediately following funeral services.

The family would like to extend a thank you to the Allegheny General Hospital staff of the Medical ICU and Surgical ICU for their extraordinary and superb support and care of Robby and his family.
