Cindy L. Stewart

Cindy L. Stewart, 58, of Shelocta, PA, died on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, at home with her husband, Tom, by her side.

She was born on July 8, 1955, in Blairsville, PA, the daughter of James S. and Ruth (Barnhart) Trimble.

Cindy was a 1973 graduate of Derry High School. She resided in Latrobe after marriage in 1976 and moved to Shelocta in 1978, calling the area her home ever since. She was of the Methodist faith, worked as a social worker for Armstrong County Community Action and also drove tractor trailers with her husband, Thomas. Cindy and Thomas loved to travel and together visited many interesting places, her favorite trip being to Glacier National Park in Montana. Above all, Cindy loved being with her family and friends, and she took every opportunity to be with her grandchildren.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband of 37 years, Thomas D. Stewart, whom she married on June 5, 1976; mother, Ruth (Barnhart) Trimble, of Blairsville; sons, Kurt T. Stewart and wife, Stacy, of Greensburg, and Sean T. Stewart and wife, Julene, of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Danielle Elkin and fiancé, Shane Russell, of Rural Valley; grandchildren, Jasmine, Lexus, Jocelyn, Damon and Ronan; brother, James Trimble and wife, Marcy, of Bradenville; sister, Amy Beth Mahkovic, of Blairsville; and brother-in-laws, Brad C. Stewart, of Mechanicsburg, and James R. Stewart, of Greensburg.

She was preceded in death by her father mentioned above, parents-in-law, Norman C. and Phyllis E. Stewart; and sister-in-law, Sandra Stewart.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, September 20, 2013 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA.

Memorial contributions may be made in Cindy's honor to the Westmoreland County Special Olympics, 215 Donahue Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.
