Virginia G. Turner

Virginia G. Turner, 94, of Cabot, PA, formerly of Kittanning, PA, died Sunday, November 17, 2013 at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot.

She was born July 24, 1919 in West Kittanning, PA, to John K. and Dessie M. (Trusal) Gillam.

Virginia lived in Kittanning most of her life and graduated from Kittanning High School in 1936. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and was an excellent homemaker, but was also very involved in the community she loved. Virginia was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Circle and Fellowship and served as the committee chairman for many years. She also was a former member of both the Kittanning Women's Club and Armstrong County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Virginia loved spending time with her family and traveling.

Her memory will be cherished by her sons, David H. Turner, Jr. and wife, Kathryn, of Kittanning, and Thomas B. Turner and wife, Mary, of South Buffalo Twp.; daughter, Kathleen Boring and husband, Daniel, of Cleveland, OH; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 63 years, D. Howard Turner, who passed away March 24, 2005; brothers, Howard, Wendel and Laird Gillam; and sister, Kathleen Enders.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 218 N. Jefferson St., Kittanning, with the Rev. Carl A. Johnson officiating.

Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pennsylvania.
