Gerald L. Rupp

Gerald L. Rupp, 70, of Dayton, PA, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born May 3, 1944 in Bryan, PA, to Walter J. and Mary (Gould) Rupp.

Gerald was a lifetime resident of the area and in his younger years was employed by the Reese Cunningham Lumber Company. For 30 years he was a janitor for the Armstrong School District, working at Dayton Jr./Sr. High School and West Shamokin Jr./Sr. High School until his retirement in 2006. Gerald served his community by driving for the Dayton Ambulance service and working for the Dayton Borough. He also was a former member of the Dayton Volunteer Fire Company. He loved doing lawn care and owned his own business, where he did saw sharpening, snowplowing and lawn care. Gerald loved riding his John Deere tractor and will be best remembered for always lending a helping hand to those in need.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Sandra (Bussard) Rupp, whom he married January 18, 1975 son, Gerald E. Rupp, of Dayton; daughter, Mary A. Hurley and husband, Ron, of Dayton; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Myron Ray Rupp; and sisters, Pauline R. Kissinger, Maxine Alice Daugherty, Lucille Bogardus and Ruby Faye Rupp.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 PM on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at the Bauer-Bly Funeral Home, 125 E. Main St., Dayton.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the funeral home, with Sheila Wadding officiating.

Burial will be in Pine Creek Baptist Cemetery, Kittanning, PA.
