Dorothy Virginia Hankey

Dorothy Virginia Hankey, 100, of Elderton, PA, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2015 at ACMH Hospital in Kittanning.

She was born November 29, 1914, in Blandburg, Clearfield Co., PA, the daughter of Howard L. and Margaret R. (Rice) Erdley.

Dorothy lived in Clearfield County until she was 16 and then was a resident of Plumcreek Twp. for many years. She was an excellent homemaker and was known for being a wonderful cook and baker. Gardening and crocheting were two of her favorite hobbies and she was a former member of Grace Baptist Church in Shelocta. Dorothy was also a wonderful aunt who was a second mother to her many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy's family would like to thank the Brandons at Family Pines Rest Home for the prayers and excellent care they gave her.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sister, Charlotte R. Yount, of Ford City; and several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Glenn W. Hankey, whom she married March 1, 1933 and who died June 19, 1990; and brothers, James E., Willard S., Walter W. and Howard Thomas Erdley.

Relatives and friends may visit from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Clark Chapel of the Bauer Funeral Home, Inc., 238 S. Main Street, Elderton, PA.

Additional visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Toy officiating.

Burial will be in United Rockville Lutheran Cemetery, Ford City, PA.
