Grace McMillen-Rosenberger
Grace B. McMillen-Rosenberger, age 95, of Rural Valley, PA, died on Monday, July 12, 2010, at Grey’s Colonial Acres.
She was born on May 25, 1915, in Manor Twp., Armstrong Co., PA, the daughter of Roy W. and Rhetta (Hileman) Bowser.
Grace was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church of Manorville, PA. She was a 1934 graduate of Ford City High School and a 1938 graduate of Thiel College where she received her Bachelors’ Degree. For over 30 years, she taught public education in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Mexico, Chile, and Peru until her retirement in 1980. Grace was a life member of the Armstrong County Chapter PA Association of School Retirees. She had a passion for stamp collecting, and became a member of the Wilkinsburg Stamp Club, and in her leisure time enjoyed stitching samplers. Grace will be best remembered for her dedication as a teacher, being a strong survivor of her life’s obstacles, and her love of meeting new people and learning about their lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Richard “Ted” McMillen Sr. whom she married June 20, 1942 and who died February 17, 1980; her second husband, Cleman C. “Bus” Rosenberger, Sr. whom she married July 9, 1983 and who died October 7, 2000; a brother, Clayton “Skippy” Bowser; an infant twin sister, Rita Ro Bowser; a step-son, Gary Rosenberger; and a sister, Gail B. Clare.
She will be deeply missed by her son, Richard McMillen of Pittsburgh, PA; a step-son, Cleman C. Rosenberger, Jr. of Kittanning; two step-daughters, Gail Rosenberger Frantz of Fairfield, PA, and Muriel Ann McMillen Monrad of Phoenix, AZ; sixteen grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N McKean Street, Kittanning, PA.
Additional visitation will be held on Friday, July 16, 2010, at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of funeral service at 11 AM with the Rev. Andrew Dougherty officiating.
Burial will follow at Lawn Haven Burial Estates, E. Franklin Twp., Armstrong Co., PA.
Memorial contributions may be made in Grace’s honor to the Grace Lutheran Church, PO Box 122 Water Street, Manorville, PA 16238.
