Ann E. Hagan

Ann E. Hagan, 63, of New Bethlehem, PA passed away Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born July 22, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA, the daughter of Mahlon and Priscilla (Lentz) Traister.

Ann lived in the area all her life. A 1968 graduate of Union High School, she was the class Valedictorian. Upon graduation, Ann attended Carnegie Mellon University and the University of Pittsburgh where she earned a Master's degree in Spanish Literature. An educator, her love of the Spanish language was passed along to the generations of children she taught spanning her 25 year teaching career, most recently with the Redbank Valley School District. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Pennsylvania State Education Association. Her favorite past times included knitting, reading and working on the farm. Ann was a grand lady of wisdom and humor in speech and in action. Her family and many friends will always remember her energy and enthusiasm, joy in learning and doing new things, and embracing life with all she could.

Her memory will be cherished by her mother, Priscilla Traister, of Rimersburg, loving husband, John Hagan; son, Samuel R. Hagan, of Rimersburg; daughter, Elissa Pettinato and husband, Nathaniel, of Philadelphia; and many special friends.

Ann was preceded in death by her father.

At Ann's request, services will be private.
