Richard G. Buzard, 77, of Rimersburg, PA, went home with the Lord to join his loving wife, Wanda, on September 26, 2013 at Clarion Hospital.

He was born in Rimersburg on October 9, 1935, the son of George and Rena (Switzer) Buzard.

Richard lived in Rimersburg all his life and graduated from Rimersburg High School in 1953. He honorably served in the US Army during the Korean War as a mechanic and was actively involved in veterans groups in Rimersburg, holding a membership with American Legion Post 454 and serving on the Veterans Park Association Board. In 1976, Richard and his wife, Wanda, purchased the Western Auto Store in Rimersburg and they ran the business until their retirement in June of 2005. He belonged to the Rimersburg Community Club and was a member of Sligo Nazarene Church. Richard loved the Lord and his church, and his faith was very important to him. He served the church in many capacities, including as the church treasurer, church board member and Sunday school teacher.

Richard's mechanical skills were known to many in the Rimersburg area and on the side he did small engine repair and fixed lawn mowers. He also enjoyed watching sports, hunting and fishing. Despite Richard's many interests, family always came first. He adored his family - especially his grandchildren - and was happiest when with them. Generosity was one of his best qualities and he never hesitated to help those in need. Richard's hard-working and kind spirit will never be forgotten by his family and friends.

He will be deeply missed by his sons, Jeffrey A. Buzard and wife, Cheryl, of Rimersburg, and Stephen R. Buzard and wife, Debbie, of Mars; grandchildren, Janessa and Jared Buzard, and Mitchell and Brianna Buzard; and sisters, Vivian Hopper and husband, Jack, of Tidal, and Sue Bobbert and husband, Leonard "Bo," of Oak Ridge.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents and loving wife, Wanda Lee (Taylor) Buzard, whom he married on July 21, 1957 and who died March 26, 2006.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at Bauer-Hillis Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 758 Main St., Rimersburg.

Additional visitation will be from 1 PM until the time of funeral services at 2 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at Sligo Church of the Nazarene, 311 Madison Street, Sligo, PA, with the Rev. Brent Herren officiating. Full military honors will be presented at the church by the Rimersburg VFW Post #7132 and American Legion Post #454.

Burial will be in Sligo Cemetery, Sligo, Pennsylvania.

Contributions may be made in Richard's memory to Sligo Church of the Nazarene, 311 Madison Street, Sligo, PA 16255 or the Rimersburg Veteran's Park and Museum, c/o Jim McCullough, 231 Monterrey Road, Rimersburg, PA 16248.
