Carl Conrad Glock, II

Carl Conrad Glock, II, of Kittanning, PA, died Friday, December 19, 2014, at Armstrong County Memorial Hospital.

He was born in 1923 in New Kensington, PA, the son of Carl and Lulu (Masters) Glock.

Carl was a graduate of New Kensington High School and attended Wittenberg College in Springfield, OH. Carl served in the European Theater in World War II and was awarded the Bronze Star for his time in the Army Medical Corps. The Bronze Star is the fourth-highest individual military award and is earned by performing acts of heroism, acts of merit or meritorious service in a combat zone. He was also awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African-Middle Easter Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Combat Medal Badge and Honorable Discharge Service lapel button.

Carl was a former owner of the Glock's Sporting Goods Stores. Carl was also a Little League coach and a timer for the Armstrong County Swim Team. He retired from Eljer Plumbingware in 1985 after 31 years of service and belonged to Eljer Local #158, of which he was the recording secretary and chairman of the Eljer Retirees Club. Carl was a life member of both the BPOE and the VFW, and was a member of the Eagles and the Moose. He was a former member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Kensington and served on the Applewold Borough Council.

His memory will be cherished by his loving wife, Betty (Wandrum) Glock; son, Carl Glock and wife, Carol; granddaughter, Taylor Glock; daughter, Carla Glock Collichio; grandsons, Ben Collichio and wife, Rachael, and Alex Collichio and wife, Erin; and great-grandson, Alex Collichio.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
