Michael R. Smock
Michael R. Smock, 62, of Ford City, PA, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.Michael was born on March 14, 1963, in Pittsburgh, PA, the son of Joyce Smock.
Michael was an assembler at the Progressive Workshop for many years, where he took pride in his work. Michael had a lifelong love of fire trucks and could often be found listening to his scanner and keeping track of activity around the county. He was honored to be an honorary fireman with Kittanning Hose Company #4.
A devoted sports fan, Michael loved cheering on the Pittsburgh teams, especially the Pirates, and he also supported the local Armstrong Riverhawks. He found great joy in nature and spending time outdoors. Michael loved watching the birds and squirrels that gathered at his backyard feeder. He loved all animals, with a special affection for cats. Michael loved the Christmas season and found particular joy in Christmas music. He formed strong and meaningful connections with those around him and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Joyce Smock, who passed away on March 12, 1990, and his Aunt, Martha Smock who passed in 2006.
Family and friends will be received from 9AM until the time of services at 1PM on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026 at the Bauer Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 515 N. McKean St., Kittanning, PA, with Rev. Edward Walters officiating.
Interment will be in the Freeport Cemetery, Freeport, PA.
